UFC Sacramento results: Josh Emmett delivers blistering first round TKO against Mirsad Bektic

Recommended Posts

Josh Emmett delivered an emphatic first round finish to get his hometown Sacramento crowd on its feet.

The Team Alpha Male featherweight needed less than one round to dispatch Mirsad Bektic by TKO after dropping his opponent with a stiff jab and then following up with barrage of punches on the mat. The end came at 4:25 in the first round as Emmett celebrated another lights out victory.

“It comes with accumulation of [working with] the best team in the world,” Emmett said paying tribute his training partners and coaches after his third knockout win in his past four fights. “Let’s keep it rolling. That’s eight knockdowns in four featherweight fights.”

Emmett and Bektic were swinging with bad intentions with virtually every punch thrown as soon as the fight started. Bektic was more active while Emmett was throwing sledgehammers with his right hand that came close to landing flush several times during the exchanges.

Despite Bektic’s activity, Emmett showed no fear stepping into the pocket and trading shots as he kept aiming for the punch that would put his opponent down and out for good.

Ultimately it was a well-timed left jab down the middle that blasted Bektic in the mush and dropped him down to the canvas.

Emmett followed him to the ground where he began unloading punches including one particularly nasty shot that snapped Bektic’s head back, which forced the referee to intervene before he took any further damage.

Emmett has been a welcome addition to the featherweight division and he’ll undoubtedly look for a higher ranked opponent after another highlight reel finish on Saturday night.
